Three Super Cool Ubuntu Themes

First of all you will need to install Emerald

1
sudo apt-get install emerald

Obsidian Glass for Ubuntu Studio

Note: Apparently Compiz should be preinstalled if you have gutsy or hardy. Go to Sytem -> Preferences -> Appearance -> Visual Effects -> Extra to enable Compiz fusion. You then install emerald via synaptic. Once you install that, you can go back to visual effects and select Custom. I’m using Ubuntu 9.10 and had not problem at this point.

Radial

This is my favorite, if you double click the bar, the window will collapse as shown above.

And this is another useful feature, it can pin the window on top of other windows (stick window).

Additional Info

Once you downloaded the files, you can go to Emerald Themer Manager and Import the theme. Once imported, you can click the theme to enable it. Normally, it will work straight away.

In case it doesn’t, you can use the following command to change the theme.

1
emerald --replace
